Soprano Jessica Wan performs regularly throughout the Bay Area, singing opera, lieder, and musical theatre. Jessica has sung with Pocket Opera, LIEDER ALIVE!, Goat Hall Productions, the Berkeley Fringe Festival, Opera on Tap, and the Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Festival at SFSU. An avid recitalist, she makes it her mission to introduce people of all backgrounds to classical and vocal music. She is a two-time finalist in the East Bay Opera League Competition. In 2014, she had the incredible opportunity to be invited to study with Frau Ks. Edith Mathis in Salzburg.
With visual artist Cindy Shih, Jessica co-founded Art | Song Salon, a performance series pairing vocal works with visual art by local artists in San Francisco. The series aims to build community between artists and art-lovers in San Francisco, with open discussion throughout the evening.
Currently studying voice with Susan Gundunas, Jessica began her musical journey at an early age on the piano, playing violin in orchestra and chamber groups through high school, and playing oboe through college. She is fluent in spoken Mandarin, sometimes gets by in French, and is learning Italian. She finds that her lifelong musical journey grants her unique gifts in her work as a leadership and executive coach: active listening, pattern recognition, perspective, and the ability to bring out her clients’ unique voice.
Jessica lives in Berkeley with her husband, young child, and pup. She loves yoga, hiking, water sports, cycling, horseback riding, dancing, and learning new things.
